The street was repaired from damage caused in the Flood of 2019. Williams Street is on a list of “protected” streets designated by the Alton City Council that requires bricks to be replaced after any repair. ALTON Workers from Stutz Excavating, Inc., on Thursday were tasked with the job of replacing the bricks one at a time on Williams Street in Alton. The street has been repaired from damage caused by the Flood of 2019. Workers have poured a concrete layer on which the original bricks will be replaced.

I-255 work starts March 8 Feb. 24, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail SOUTH ROXANA The Illinois Department of Transportation is planning lane closures on Illinois 255 between New Poag Road and Madison Avenue beginning Monday, March 8, weather permitting. Both directions will be reduced to a single lane in each direction. This work is necessary to make bridge deck repairs and is expected to be completed by September 2021. Drivers may experience delays when traveling through the work zone. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone. The contractor on this project is Stutz Excavating Co. of Alton.
