On Thursday (April 29) at approximately 6 p.m., the Statesville Police Department responded to a report of an individual being shot at 1221 Fourth Street. Officers found 21-year-old Naseem Wilkes behind an abandoned residence. Mr. Wilkes was fatally shot. This homicide is being actively investigated by the Statesville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. No additional information was available.

Authorities Seeking Suspect In Vehicle Break-ins, Peeping Incidents Travis Al Jeron Cousar Authorities Seeking Suspect In Vehicle Break-ins, Peeping Incidents April 12, 2021 A suspect in vehicle break-ins who has outstanding warrants is being sought by authorities. Statesville Police report they are seeking 35-year-old Travis Al Jeron Cousar, who is a resident of South Carolina currently living in Statesville. Police began receiving calls in October, 2020 regarding a man breaking into unlocked vehicles in neighborhoods in East Statesville. Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division worked to identify the suspect, described as a black male, appearing to be in his mid 30s to early 40s, unknown to law enforcement.

2-year-old dead in Statesville accident

Updated: 3:49 PM EDT April 9, 2021 STATESVILLE, N.C. A 2-year-old is dead after the Statesville Police Department said he was struck by a car in Statesville. According to police, the fatal accident happened at the 1000 block of 5th Street in Statesville.  Police said 2-year-old Desmond Hayes was struck by a woman operating a 2010 Ford Taurus heading south on 5th Street. Desmond was transported to Davis Hospital where he later died from his injuries.  Police said this accident is being actively investigated by the Statesville Police Department’s Traffic Unit.

He’s charged with attempted first-degree murder, felony counts of discharge a weapon into occupied property and conspiracy, and misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed gun and discharging a firearm in the city. 35-year-old Sheena Leannetta Chambers of Clayton was also arrested in this case and charged with felony conspiracy and misdemeanor simple assault.
