A LIDEN man is said to have had £100,000-worth of cannabis at the foot of his bed. Kieran Steptoe, 20, was arrested in the wake of police raids on houses across east Swindon this week. Prosecutor Ben Worthington told Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning officers allegedly found an estimated 10kg of cannabis in vacuum-packed bags at the foot of a bed at a house in Tansley Moor, Liden, yesterday. The cannabis was said to have been worth up to £100,000 on the street if sold in 1g deals. Appearing before the court this morning, Steptoe, who gave an address in Tansley Moor, entered no plea to a single count of possession with intent to supply a class B drug.

Geoffrey Martin, 46, told Swindon Magistrates’ Court he usually drove a truck. The vehicle was so noisy at 70mph that it made speeding virtually impossible. A police officer on patrol on the M4 on October 20, 2019, clocked his 2018-plate 4x4 at 100mph. Speaking in his own defence, Martin said: “I just didn’t realise I was going as fast as I was. It was so quiet in there. As soon as I saw [the police officer] I knew.” He acknowledged he had been going far too fast.
The 30mph speed limit that s caught out many Swindon drivers This Swindon speed trap has claimed a number of drivers in the past year – and few realise that it’s a 30mph zone. The Great Western Way goes from a 50mph to a 30mph limit just before the Barnfield roundabout. It remains a 30 zone up to the Bruce Street Bridges roundabout. The spot is well-known to the police, with officers regularly conducting speed checks from opposite B&Q.
