Parade, fireworks mark Independence Day Hillsdale Daily News HILLSDALE The second annual Patriot s Parade kicked off Independence Day celebrations in Hillsdale Saturday led by a joint Honor Guard comprised of veterans from the Hillsdale, Jonesville and Reading American Legion Posts.  Organized by the Hillsdale County Republican Party, the parade began at North Street and Howell Street and made its way through downtown featuring fire trucks, floats, horses and drawn carriages, tractors and Shriner s on their mini-bikes.  Following the parade, at dark, vivid colors filled the sky as the Light Up the Sky fireworks show, part of the typical Great American Celebration, got underway at the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds.

FBI investigation into Jan. 6 capitol incidents turns to Hillsdale County Hillsdale Daily News FRONTIER A federal investigation into the Jan. 6 incident at the U.S. Capitol turned its attention to Hillsdale County Thursday, when an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation visited the home of Lance Lashaway, after a short telephone call earlier in the morning that ended with Lashaway pleading the Fifth Amendment.  Lashaway, vice chairman of the Hillsdale County Republican Party who serves on the city of Hillsdale’s Tax Increment Finance Authority, released an audio recording to Hillsdale Daily News of a conversation he had with the agent.

That’s the overwhelming sentiment GOP groups in various Michigan counties have expressed while admonishing powerful Republicans they once helped elect. The “betrayal” comes in the form of officials turning their backs on former President Donald Trump, their own constituents or a combination of both, say local GOP delegates who condemned their representatives in Congress and the state Legislature.
