HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. â The Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association is now pushing back against the most recent round of school district budget cuts, saying the district violated the contracts of dozens of teachers. They re now working to have them reinstated this fall.
This past Friday, the Hillsborough County School District sent out an email to more than a hundred instructors saying it s unlikely they will have a job next school year because of budget problems.
More than a hundred educators in the Hillsborough County School District received an email on Friday saying the district is unlikely to provide them with an instructional position for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.

Charles Otero loved everything about Tampa, his family said â even if the city didnât always love him back.
The child of Hispanic immigrants, Mr. Otero became Tampaâs first Hispanic chief of police in 1974 and, after retiring in 1979, worked as the Hillsborough County School Districtâs security supervisor for another 12 years.
