HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida man stole an ambulance from a hospital while first responders were assisting a patient but got the vehicle stuck in sand and mud, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Records show the Hernando County Fire & Emergency Services ambulance was parked in the ambulance bay at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville on Sunday around 12:30 p.m. while paramedics were inside the hospital dropping off a patient.

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Hernando County deputies arrested Trey Cornwell, 29, after they say he stole an ambulance from Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville.
According to deputies, Cornwell jumped in the ambulance shortly before 12:30 p.m. while the crew from Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services was inside the hosptial dropping off a patient.
Deputies say he drove the ambulance to the Kass Circle area off Port Court, where it got stuck in mud and sand as it approached a body of water.

A Florida man was arrested on Sunday after he stole an ambulance but got it stuck in mud a few miles away.
According to a press release from the Hernando County Sheriff s Office in Florida, on Sunday, authorities responded to a call of a stolen ambulance near the area of Port Court in Spring Hill.

The ambulance is owned by the Hernando County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services, according to the release. At around 12:27 p.m. local time, the ambulance was parked in the ambulance bay of the Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida, when it was taken.

The Hernando County Sheriffâs Office is investigating a stabbing that took place at a Brooksville gas station Saturday.
Deputies were dispatched to the Speedway convenience store located at 26260 Cortez Blvd., around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. There they found a man in the parking lot who had been stabbed, according to a news release. The victim was treated by Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services personnel and transported to a nearby trauma center. The victimâs condition is unknown.

Authorities in Florida arrested a man who allegedly stole an ambulance on Sunday from a hospital in Hernando County.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified once an ambulance owned by Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services was taken at about 12:30 p.m. from Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, WFLA reported.
The ambulance crew was reportedly inside the building dropping off a patient when the vehicle was taken.
