George Miles would usually spend his weekends playing football for the Redlands Bandits. But with grassroots sports suspended due to the Covid pandemic, the schoolboy from Upwey wanted to do something worthwhile with his time to help those less fortunate. So he put his best foot forward to run more than 10km - and raised £285 which he used to buy essential items for Weymouth Foodbank. George's dad Andy, a postman, was surprised when his son came home from school and said he wanted to do a fundraiser. He said: "I think they must have said something at school about homeless people in need or about people going hungry because it came quite out of the blue that he wanted to raise money so he could donate food to our local foodbank.
