Jul 12, 2021 — Brigadier General Milford Beagle, Jr. takes command of one of the U.S. Army's most-deployed units during a time of uncertainty and transition. Thousands of North Country residents got a new boss on Monday. U.S. Army Brigadier General Milford Beagle, Jr. took charge of Fort Drum's 10th Mountain Division, becoming the highest-ranking military officer in the North Country. The storied alpine combat unit has been one of the Army's most-frequently deployed in the 20 years since the 9/11 attacks in 2001. It contains more than 15,000 troops spread across Fort Drum and Fort Polk, Louisiana, who do everything from flying helicopters to preparing meals.
