As part of that group, he directed members to vandalize properties affiliated with black and Jewish people, the department added, citing documents and statements made in court. Tobin allegedly encouraged members to participate in an attack he dubbed "Kristallnacht" in reference to an attack in November 1938 when the Nazis killed Jews and burned their homes and synagogues. Tobin pressed the members to slash tires and break windows belonging to black and Jewish people, the Justice Department said.
