That was the day when news of a confirmed case of Covid-19 in St Helens broke. Rumours had swirled of people catching coronavirus prior to that of course, but March 13 was the day for the record books. On that occasion, St Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Sutton closed its nursery and reception after a parent tested positive for Covid-19. Less than a week later, on March 18, the government announced the closure of all schools until further notice. And on March 23, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on national television that the country would be going into lockdown, with the public told to stay home.
