January 13, 2021 2:40 pm Irish dairy and specialised nutrition exports delivered a “stellar performance” for the Irish economy in 2020, when considering the challenges posed during the year, according to Dairy Industry Ireland (DII). The Ibec association representing the Irish dairy and specialised nutrition sector was commenting following the publication of Bord Bia’s Export Performance and Prospects report this morning (Wednesday, January 13). Today’s report showed a 3% uplift in dairy exports to €5.2 billion – despite the challenges to the industry from the Covid-19 pandemic and the disruption of Brexit. The industry-led strategy of aggressively diversifying Irish dairy markets in preparation for Brexit is also paying dividends – with almost half of exports now going outside both the UK and the EU – DII noted.
