ABS partners with Indigenous supplier to make 2021 census shirts
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) announced its partnership with Indigenous supplier Darkies Design today, as the company designing polo shirts for the 2021 Census staff.
The company was selected following a competitive tender process. Darkies Design was established in 2010 by Dion Devow, 2018 ACT Australian of the Year.
Mr Devow is of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. The company collaborates with Indigenous artists and designers from its Canberra base.
Census Community Engagement Officers will wear the 2021 Census polo shirt when working within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
