The health department made the announcement Friday detailing that the federal funding is intended for staffing, laboratory testing, informatics, disease surveillance, and other activities critical in the fight against COVID-19. The state received $418,951,131 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through a funding agreement at the end of January. Funding available to counties was determined by using a formula of a $100,00 base amount plus funding based on their percentage of the state's population.
