Afghan talks with Taliban begin
Delegates of the Afghanistan government and the Taliban have begun talks to end fighting which has been plaguing the country for two decades.
The delegates met on Saturday in Qatar's capital Doha as part of intermittent peace talks.
The chief of the National Reconciliation High Council, Abdullah Abdullah, who leads the peace process, called for an immediate ceasefire.
He said fighting is intensifying and problems should not be solved with force. He added that fighting should be stopped as soon as possible to work toward stabilizing the country.
The talks which began in September last year have shown little progress as the government wants an early ceasefire while the Taliban wants the country to be governed under Islamic law.
