After a year of learning loss, summer school classes swell MARIE FAZIO, The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate July 10, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail COVINGTON, La. (AP) — For the past few weeks, after morning football practice, Stephanie Sinclair’s son Evan has toiled away on his computer, working toward a passing grade in government. The last year was a struggle for Evan, a ninth grader at Slidell High, particularly during the hybrid learning of the first quarter, his mother said. Evan is among the many students who enrolled in virtual summer school classes in St. Tammany Parish, either to move on to the next grade or to repeat courses they had done poorly in last school year.
