Lodz, Poland The secularisation of Western societies is not a new phenomenon, nor one which has been overlooked by cultural commentators in recent years. As a leading authority on changing belief systems, and as a director of the World Values Survey over many years, the University of Michigan’s Professor Ronald Inglehart has a particular expertise here. His newly-published book, Drawing upon data from the World Values Survey and the European Values Study collected in over 100 countries between 1981 and 2020, as well as a range of other sources, Inglehart also puts forward his theories about what has caused this shift, and what it will mean in the coming years.
