You know im watching the news hour live from london coming up. And morning is funerals held for four people who died in clashes following demonstrations in gaza i day. On the diplomatic front the arab league is holding an emergency meeting to discuss President Trumps recognition of jerusalem as israels capital. This is donald trump steps into a civil rights fire stillwell live in jackson mississippi with the latest. And thousands pour on to the streets in paris to bid farewell to the man known as the french elvis. In spork the cheek of mexico as the semifinals of the Club World Cup while no win of without casablanca setting up our last full game with brazils grimier. The arab league has been holding an emergency meeting to discuss president transform our recognition of jerusalem as israels capital as follows a day of protests in which four people were killed in clashes and as strikes in gaza funerals have been taking place for the two have massed fighters and two Palestinian Protesters who died alan fischer brings us more now from occupied East Jerusalem where tensions remain high. Today you know that. It started as a small protest handful of people but as the walk towards all jerusalem dome one of the citys busy shopping streets there was a blog by police and soldiers told they had no permit to march that they were blocking the road they were forcibly pushed to the right in a city where anger has been close to the surface since Donald Trumps controversial decision it sparked a series of running confrontations my. Police sent in horses to break up the crowds creating widespread anger and panic this has been a pattern throughout the afternoon as crowds gather by the side of the street the horses have been sent to him at some pace to try and break those crowds up the writers have even been using their weapons it really is quite frightening for the people who are standing here watching these horses racing towards them. I dont want to see that were not getting here because i want to tell them that theyre down dependent then yeah and they were would never give up this is our country would save it was a clerk at that and i was seven at the antennas and it was. Just using. That as. The Security Forces using grenades and there were reports of injuries from rubber coated steel bullets if anyone produced a palestinian flag it was taken from them forcibly sometimes violently the flags destroyed in front of their face the. Then the woman we spoke to earlier was arrested the police couldnt tell is why. The this is whats happening in genesis in journalism it will be thorough and that if youre based in journalism until beast through the capital of palestine. Through the afternoon the Security Forces backed off the cards gathered the police moved up and the whole cycle began again. The Security Forces tried to grab people they thought were throwing stones at them identified by Police Photographers whod been in the crowd by nightfall the situation had stabilized but the under come to tension and the anger was still there but she was no sign of going away and alan joins us live now and allan picking up on your point there about the under current of tension are there concerns about how this might play out in the coming days and weeks. Well i spoke to a few people on the streets today and said whats the endgame what do you do this for whats next then they said they didnt know they were looking for Political Leadership from the Palestinian Authority from other arab nations they said what they wanted to do was to take to the streets and make sure that america and israel knew they were angry that they were upset and knew that they didnt think the decision by donald trump to the clear jerusalem israels capital was right or indeed lawful so they just wanted to make sure that their voices were heard and it seems that they are ready to continue doing that for days and weeks to come they want to make sure the other arab nations and particularly the Palestinian Authority do something to show leadership to tell them where they are going to go here where this is going to go and what it will mean for them in the long run and what does this mean for the security presence in and around the area. Well you can be sure that it will continue to be at such a high level we know that extra battalions of israeli army were moved into places like occupied East Jerusalem over the last seventy two hours or so in a dissipate of donald trump statement and then any backlash what we saw today was not just the police on the streets but the Army Reservist the Intelligence Forces all theyre all part of the operation to try and stop what started out as a peaceful protest and would have remained i think largely a peaceful protest hard to see hard to judge but certainly things became inflamed when the police started pushing people off the road not just ushering them off the road but violently pushing them off the road and then when they started sending the horses in people were genuinely frightened i saw real fear in peoples faces because the horses were just driving at them because they were trapped between buildings and cars they really had no we have to go and thats why so many injuries were recorded so i suspect that as long as people are taking to the streets to express their anger. By definition the Security Services the Security Forces here will keep their presence pretty high in places that the see as possible flashpoints of course weve been speaking about the visit by u. S. Vice president mike pence to the region how provocative at that. Well theyre glad that the Palestinian Authority has said they will not meet with my parents they dont see him coming here to explain the situation they see him coming here to justify what donald trump has done in the century tell the palestinians were not going to change our minds we dont care what you think so they see no point in discussions and in negotiations see mike pence as well who is an evangelical christian has been one of the people who pushed donald trump into this decision we know that donald trump addressed the rally in florida on friday night the people here were aware of it you know that he didnt talk about israel but what he did see was that the United States would do what was right for them the palestinians were expecting perhaps something more from a country that says it is what king or the peace plan that it will present to the palestinians and to the israelis at some point early in the new year for many of the people on the street today and i didnt get the chance to speak in detail to many of them because of all the action is going on they think that no the United States cant be trusted they were very wary of the United States before but no even less sure that donald trump and his administration will be the ones to finally deliver peace to this area but of course donald trump Still Believes that its possible that the great master negotiator the is and with this team he can deliver what he calls the deal of the century there are people here who just arent ready to buy it thank you and occupied East Jerusalem well joining us now is aljazeera senior political analyst Marwan Bashar and marwan we were hearing from alan that that many of the people who are out in the streets are looking for leadership not just in the palestinians but also from the other arab states what have we heard from these governments so far. Well best we probably hear some sort of. Condemnation thats best from the Arab League Foreign ministers my sense is and im just reading now as. As we as we get to the studio i was reading our orators story the says that the saudi arabia is basically implicated in what President Trump is proposing and on his decision on jerusalem and that probably the worst is to come and if indeed saudi arabia and i would guess by extension the United Arab Emirates are involved in this kind of waiting and getting behind the scenes in supporting trump on his decision in jerusalem and on his decision on on half a state on on half of the west bank and that Everything Else is a smokescreen for what theyre actually doing behind the scene i imagine not much is going to emerge as a consensus or as actionable strategy moving forward from there a big we will probably be left once again for the arab street than the arab league to do something moving forward and so we have had a great deal about the closeness of the relationship between the Trump Administration and saudi and specifically between the crown prince and b. S. In recent months and transcendent question so how could that be reconciled with the public official sandie condemnation of trumps declaration smokescreen that for public consumption only for the time being they will do that therefore yesterday were members i wasnt here sitting on the side i read six pages of a shuttle also the main saudi paper and i could not find a trace of one single position all for six front pages of the saudi paper about what is really the saudi position so i think all in all riyadh is basically trying to hide its real intentions in all of this i think the. Made a a a a mentee and. Deal with the administration and in a sense as you said the judge questioner along with some of the so none are missing in the contemplating what exactly to do and this sort of story is i was just mentioning it says that former palestinian sources confirmed to reuters that in fact hamad bin so man pressed president about us when he summoned them basically sue riyadh i mean thankful he didnt arrest him but when he summoned them to riyadh that he must that he needs to accept or work with the trump jarrad initiative on the Peace Process unfortunately the first step of it has been recognizing jerusalem as kept in israel and that was going to be disastrous for the palestinians but jerusalem is jerusalem is such a powerful political symbol throughout the arab and muslim world does transfer recognition not now complicate any deepening relationship between the traveler ministration and and yes absolutely no i think i dont know if it will complicate to saudi arabia because saudi arabia seems to be like the loyal client of the Trump Administration at this point in time just lets open a big big brackets here and just do things within the United States especially in congress there is a real issue with so with the. War crimes in yemen because saudi arabia is armed by the likes of the United States and the United Kingdom so theres a real issue there and i think theres going to be a more pressure in saudi arabia in the question of yemen theres also more more issue and weve heard that from secretary eric stylus and when he basically slapped down saudi arabia for its war in yemen forward. Its policy towards carter and ford its policy in lebanon basically slept thinking down saying you need to be more sober you need to be more thoughtful before you take such steps now putting such steps now putting all that to the side all of the question of palestine clearly just a question of time of the some might have made their deal and clearly the saudi arabia is following through with their assistance with the isis because apparently for saudi arabia this is a strategic decision that basically is second fighting palestine in order to create some kind of a front against iran and i think in that sense trumps decision during the night is jerusalem ahead of time has got two of these are looks foolish to me and to anyone else whos looking at this but clearly it wasnt made out of a way out of a out of an object of to please saudi arabia it was more of an expediency to please the israeli lobby and the evangelicals in the United States all right ron thank you for taking a number of different but still connected if youre so thank you all now in watching the news hour from london much more still to come georgias former president is rearrested and goes on a Hunger Strike saying hes the victim of a politically motivated ploy. A federal emergency is declared as wildfires tear through california homes are destroyed and thousands forced to flee. And it supports a japanese baseball size been compared to babe ruth x. s team. Iraqs Prime Minister has declared the end of the war against i. C. L. In his country hydrilla body has been congratulating iraqi troops who say they are now in complete control of the iraqi syria order and follows an Iraqi Forces Operation to push the last i still fight is outside the area and outside it marks the end of the three a war to drive i still out of iraq. And how u. S. President on a trump is visiting jackson mississippi for the opening of a Civil Rights Museum event has been mired in controversy with a number of civil rights leaders deciding to boycott the event because they say the president has a record of Racial Division theyve cited trump blaming both sides for the violence a shot at full rally and his criticism of n. F. L. Players kneeling during the National Anthem to protest racism well despite the protests and boycotts us President Trump went ahead with his talk paying tribute to americas civil rights leaders that is what medgar evers was he was a Great American hero that is what others honored in this museum were true american heroes today we strive to be worthy of their sacrifice we pray for inspiration from their example we want our country to re a place where every child from every backroom can grow up free from fear innocent of hatred and surrounded by love opportunity and hope today we pay solemn tribute to our heroes of the past and dedicate ourselves to building a future of freedom equality justice and peace for more on this guy joins us live from jackson mississippi and it is proving a very controversial trip isnt it gabriel we know that a lot of people arent happy about trumps presence that civil rights leaders of course at the event why is trump making an appearance now and specifically opening a Civil Rights Museum why why do this now. Quite frankly because hes trying to reach out to africanamericans because he wants their support and all polls indicate that he does not have it overwhelmingly in this countrys trying to make inroads with the black americans and the latest poll nine out of ten africanamericans in this country black americans said they do not believe that trump thinks that he supports black americans causes those are devastating numbers and so thats why partially at least hes coming came to this opening and Ribbon Cutting of this new Civil Rights Museum here in mississippi a state that is very much over the last century or so at the heart of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States and so he did strike a very conciliatory tone as you heard from that part of that clip you just played of part of what his words he had to say here so he was very much on script as you heard there he didnt go off script at all just trying to sort of reach out to a community that frankly a lot of people just simply do not trust him and thats why many civil rights leaders simply boycotted this saying that it was nothing more than a photo opportunity for trump that they simply just simply didnt want to be a part of yes and. Then on the last seeking to reach out to a lot of these people but what kind of reception is he getting after the outcry. And the meeting n. F. L. Yeah hes going to receptions on one side of town youve got the National Association for the advancement colored people or the end of the most storied Civil Rights Organization in the United States they held a press conference with the black mayor of this city by the way basically saying that this was nothing more than a photo op and they did not welcome trump here however i will say the people who have come to this Ribbon Cutting including some black americans are mostly people that support trump and they dont. The fact that hes been here we have to point that out we did as speak to several black americans and that said you know i do support the president and i support that he is here trying to reach out to our community on this important day in the opening this museum so its a little subdued here there are no major protests on the streets or anything like that for the most part but it is a little subdued but i think for the most part what you have here is donors local residents museum folks here and from supporters that are trying to make the best of this because this is a very very Important Museum and quite frankly a very Beautiful Museum that really documents the struggle of black americans for so many decades in this country to achieve equal rights. In jackson mississippi thank you. Well the white house has moved to dismiss concerns about the health of the u. S. President earlier this week donald trump concluded an important speech by slurring and mispronoun
