IT HAPPENED YESTERDAY AFTE TRACKING THE COVID-19 VACCINE Share Updated: 12:10 PM CST Dec 18, 2020 An Altoona man died Thursday following a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 80.According to a preliminary report from the Iowa State Patrol, 46-year-old James Bartels died in a crash that occurred just before 5 p.m. near mile marker 140.The Iowa State Patrol said a 2018 Ford Escort and 2010 Ford F-150 had slowed down on the interstate due to traffic congestion when they were crashed into by Bartels’ vehicle.Troopers said Bartels failed to stop, resulting in the chain-reaction crash.Initial crash reports indicate Bartels died from injuries caused by not wearing a seat belt.
