Greetings, readers:
Last Saturday, I was among more than 1,000 participants taking part in America Talks, a campaign to connect Americans of different backgrounds one-on-one in a virtual conversation.
The Listen First Coalition and multiple partners, including USA TODAY, put together the event, which kicked off National Conversation Week (June 14-20) to help people understand each other in an age of polarization.
The day started with a tutorial on how to have a conversation, which speaks to the state of political discourse, but it was very useful.
