When Ann Vriend penned her latest single three years ago she didn’t realize how much it would resonate today.
“It’s so eerie,” the local singer-songwriter says about the funky, gospel-drenched Everybody Matters, released in late March as the first offering from the album of the same name. “When I came up with it I was thinking about my neighbourhood, McCauley, and the people in it who experience injustices and bias on a regular basis. Now, especially with the pandemic, we’re seeing all of these things brought to the forefront of people’s attention worldwide.”
