Updated Feb 08, 2021; A South Jersey school district is using computer software to help find students who could be searching the internet for content related to self-harm or harming others. The Deptford school district is rolling out the pilot program on a software suite it uses on more than 2,800 laptops it has distributed to students in the 4,000 student pre-K to 12 district since the coronavirus pandemic ushered in internet-based, remote academic instruction. Administrators said the purpose is to identify and help students at risk of suicide, self-harm or school violence.
