Oshkosh Defense/ST The U.S. Army will test two vehicles and select one to be its new snow personnel carrier. The cold-weather, all-terrain vehicle (CATV) will carry troops and equipment across snowy terrain. The vehicle will be an essential part of the Army’s plan to operate in the Arctic. The U.S. Army has selected two different vehicles to participate in its cold-weather, all-terrain vehicle (CATV) trials. The winning vehicle will equip U.S. Army combat units trained to operate north of the Arctic Circle. With its ability to travel overland in the snow, the CATV is an increasingly important part of the Army’s ability to operate in the Arctic region—one of the newest, most difficult potential theaters of conflict.
