Just two months ago, Montana State was excited to announce the hiring of new head football coach Brent Vigen. When Vigen held his press conference, that excitement evaporated like Montanaâs chances of winning the 2019 Brawl of the Wild. Since news broke that Vigen is pronounced as âVeganâ and not âVee-jin,â the cattle ranchers of Montana have been angry as a bull. âItâs a huge disappointment,â MSU President Wadaddy Cruzaddy commented, âWhen we considered all the hires for the job, we never even took into consideration the way his last name was pronounced.â As Cruzaddy spoke to the Exponent, her demeanor was clearly off-putting, and the stress of the uproar was certainly taking a huge toll on her thoughts about the fall football season. âIt is difficult because with a name pronounced like âveganâ, itâs nearly impossible to seem like a threat in the great state of Montana,â she said.Â
