Atwater Brewery is bringing back its most popular seasonal beer. One year after canceling its spring Whango release due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Detroit-based brewery announced the mango wheat ale is returning next week, with a special tapping slated for St. Patrick's Day and new-look cans going into distribution. Mark Rieth, founder and president of Atwater Brewery, said Atwater was gearing up for Whango's release a year ago at this time but, with the pandemic beginning and businesses shutting down to quarantine, Atwater went in a different direction. "Atwater was proud to be able to quickly pivot to hand sanitizer production, much of which we donated to first responders, health care workers and others on the COVID front lines," Rieth said in a news release. "Now, however, we're pleased to be able to bring Whango back for its seasonal production run in 2021."
