Talebula Kate 21 July, 2021, 5:30 pm The Health Ministry has a clear process in place for assessing COVID-19 deaths, says Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) mission leader Dr Brian Spain. He said this while responding to queries on why some families were rejecting or disputing the ministry’s statement that loved ones had died because of the virus. Some families had posted their frustration on social media, saying their recently deceased loved ones were wrongly classified as COVID-19 deaths. Some said the deceased were known to have other medical issues. Dr Spain said the Health Ministry permanent secretary, Dr James Fong, and his team had an appropriate way of assessing COVID-19 deaths.
