Battle Creek family has up-close encounter with wild mink Matt Hunt was inside his home at 6 1/2 Mile Road in Emmett Township when his three children ran in to tell him about their rare nature experience. While exploring on the family's 7 1/2-acre property on April 25, they said a wild animal approached 9-year-old Eva, sniffed her and sat on her foot. "Sure enough, I walked out there and about 10 feet away was a mink," Hunt said. "I pulled out the phone and that’s when it approached me." In a video Hunt recorded that lasts 1 minute and 42 seconds, he extends his hand down and whispers to his children to stay quiet as the curious American mink gets close enough to allow him to pet it.
