By Robert J. Hansen | OBSERVER Staff Writer - A report presented to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors reveals that American mothers, especially Black moms, have one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world, with approximately 70 Black women dying per 100,000 live births in 2021; however, efforts by the Black Child Legacy Campaign have shown progress in reducing deaths and improving safety and well-being for Black children and families in Sacramento County.
