Around 150 participants will bring their radio controlled cars to Blenheim this weekend for the national championships on a new track. In just six weeks, working every spare minute, Bevan Burney and a few helpers created a one-of-a-kind mini racing track to host a national radio-controlled car championship in Blenheim. The new track at Riverlands will host the 2021 1/8 New Zealand Radio Control Nationals this weekend, March 11-14, when some 150 'drivers' and pit crew will descend on the venue to test their skills against one another. Burney worked on the 280m track five weekends in a row, putting in time “a lot of nights as well,” and said it's “absolutely the most challenging track in New Zealand”.
