February 5, 2021 Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester has nominated 28 Delaware students for admission to United States service academies for the Class of 2025. Each year, members of the U.S. Congress are charged with nominating top candidates for attendance at four service academies: the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. Nominees must then be accepted by the academies to gain admittance. “As we continue to face unprecedented times, I am filled with pride seeing young Delawareans answering the call to serve our nation in our military,” said Blunt Rochester. “Serving in our nation’s armed forces requires bravery and selfless dedication to their fellow citizens. I was pleased with the high volume of applications my office received this year, and I am honored to nominate these exceptional students to the United States’ prestigious service academies. I wish these nominees the best as they continue in this process and am looking forward to seeing the incredible leaders they become.”
