Runciman — or “Bob” to his constituents — was called the “consummate Canadian public servant” for his 45 years of service at municipal, provincial and federal levels. Among the accomplishments listed in his appointment, Runciman is credited with leading the revitalization of Brockville’s downtown area, initiating a treatment centre for inmates with mental illness and supporting the province through the SARS crisis. He remains a “stalwart” community volunteer.
