"I look at the magnitude of this whole thing. So we're not talking about a governor, we're not talking about a congressman, we're not talking about a state senator. We're talking about the President of the United States. So we felt it was appropriate to go a little bit above and beyond," Gaughan said. "We wanted to make a permanent change. In my opinion, you can't be afraid to be a part of something different, to change something, and any time you change anything in the city of Scranton, or anywhere in our area, people obviously, understandably, get upset. We can't be afraid to change. We have to look at this as a positive thing and not a negative thing. There's going to be a little bit of an inconvenience for the small business owners, we're going to try to work with them, but I think, in the long run, there's going to be a net benefit," said Gaughan. "The committee felt that this is going to bring people from all over the state, and potentially the country who want to come, from a historical perspective, to visit the President's hometown."
