Cambridge school board updated on current and future district programs CAMBRIDGE, Ohio–The pandemic, to say the least, has changed all ideas of “normalcy”. School systems across the country having become one of the largest victims. While education during the pandemic brings to mind the many struggles involved. While classes over the computer, children at their socially distanced desks and wearing masks come to mind. However, there have been many successes. Some of those successes, and hopes and plans for the future, were a major topic at Tuesday night’s Cambridge City Schools, Board of Education meeting. Several of the district’s administrative staff updated the board on a number of programs in place, planned for expansion or are in the works. Various “wrap around” services for example, are striving to improve the health and well being of students. This includes a vision-2-learn program, which will do vision screenings and provide glasses for students in the need. A number of programs such as this are evolving through Muskingum Valley Health Care and other local agencies. The district food services continue to post record numbers for breakfast and lunches served each day. In addition, a weekly food distribution program continues to aid many, and it was announced, will continue into the summer. After school clubs/programs are gaining popularity. Over 40 students are now taking part in various undertakings such as STEM, life skills, photography and gardening.
