Captain Tom won the hearts of the nation during the first national lockdown last year by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday, and he raised millions for frontline workers. Captain Tom's daughters said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear father, Captain Sir Tom Moore."
