The identities of the individuals involved have not been released, though the Star Tribune and KARE 11 report that all five are students, including a passenger who was fatally ejected when the 2015 Honda Accord split in two when it struck a tree. South Washington County Schools has not confirmed the reports, only telling KARE 11 that "some" of the individuals involved in the accident are East Ridge students. Woodbury Public Safety Commander John Altman said all victims are 16 or 17 years old.
