AN inspirational young Greenock man who has overcome multiple disabilities and life-long health conditions now has his sights set on a career serving the public. Rhys McCole, 20, was over the moon to secure a modern apprenticeship with Inverclyde Council last year and is thriving in his job. As a champion boxer Rhys had to defy all the odds to reach the top. He was born with holes in his heart and severe asthma, often spending spells in hospital. Rhys, from the east end, also has learning disabilities including Asperger's and dyslexia. His success in the ring led him to taking a leading role outside it as an ambassador for disabled rights.
