According to a press release issued by the union workers, there was "almost unanimous support" for organizing and joining the Industrial Workers of the World. On March 9, they say their union, Moe's Books Workers, was recognized by Doris Moskowitz, the store's owner. "Over the past year, there have been many incidents where employees and valued Moe’s customers were put in danger by poor safety protocol," a statement from Moe's Books Workers reads. "When staff members advocated for the safety of themselves and others, they were often ignored and even retaliated against.
