The City of Baker has gone to the future to warn residents about the present. In a community that relishes its strong ties to the old west, the city has helped to set up an application that can be used on smartphones to notify residents of important events and situations. The city has arranged with a New York-based company, Elan City, to create the application the city can use. âThat is something I have been looking into since the later part of 2020,â Mayor Steve Zachmann said recently. âIt is a way to notify the community. Some people listen to the radio. Some get their news online. Some use their cell phone for information and some rely on the newspaper.
