A Daytona Beach group is launching a new program this month aimed at giving teens skills to succeed after high school graduation. Community Healing Project, a Daytona Beach nonprofit, will launch "Project G.O.L.D." on April 19, and is partnering with CareerSource Flagler Volusia, which works to place people in jobs. “We want this program to give young kids a boost of knowledge so they don’t stumble like a lot of us did,” said Dyrell Johnson, who also is known as Rell Black and is director and founder of Community Healing Project. “The reason we named it that is because it’s a program to help develop students into young adults. We're also going to teach respect, accountability, decision-making skills and conflict resolution.”
