Dec 30, 2020 — Prisons in the North Country saw their cases COVID-19 continue to climb this week, according to the latest figures from New York State’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision The state is reporting at least 50 active cases at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora and 67 cases at Bare Hill in Malone as of Dec. 28. Another 48 are currently active at the Gouverneur Correctional Facility in St. Lawrence County. Like other congregant facilities, prisons have been among the worst hit since the start of the pandemic. Reform advocates have criticized Gov. Andrew Cuomo for not doing more to mitigate the virus’ spread.
