Cougars in the Finger Lakes? Of course they're here, at least kind of Len Lisenbee I recently received an inquiry from a man who claimed he observed a cougar cross the road a short distance in front of his truck. He was driving south on Route 245, just a short distance from the High-Tor Wildlife Management Area, and the animal crossed from west to east. He described it as a very large cat, about four feet long with a long tail. And it was tawny in color. And during the deer season I received an email from a bow hunter who stated he observed a large, cat-like critter walk directly under his deer stand. He described it as a tawny colored cat that was about 3 or 4 feet long and with a long, thick tail.
