Council OKS $30K more for sewer virus testing Oakridger The Oak Ridge City Council has approved up to $30,000 from the city waterworks fund for more tests for COVID-19 RNA particles in the city’s sewage. This continued testing will help the city determine if the novel coronavirus is still widespread, how successful preventative measures are, and if the city needs to take additional measures, a memo from city staff included in the Council agenda stated. “In addition, as more of the public are vaccinated it should help us determine its success and when protective measures can be lifted,” the memo stated.
