EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The coronavirus pandemic's rollercoaster ride through Vanderburgh County took an upswing Wednesday with 238 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. After two days of sharply decreasing daily case counts, Vanderburgh's totals on the Indiana State Department of Health's COVID-19 dashboard shot back up. The county recorded two new COVID-19-related deaths. Statewide, there were 4,731 new cases and 62 new COVID-19-related deaths Wednesday. There have now been a total of 14,207 cases of COVID-19 and 184 deaths in Vanderburgh County since the first known case emerged on March 19. Warrick County has reported 4,761 COVID-19 cases, Posey 1,741, Gibson 2,840, Spencer 1,319 and Perry 1,108.
