COVID positivity rate shoots up to 12 per cent in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: With the number of Covid cases increasing in the state, and Bengaluru being the biggest contributor among districts, the city’s positivity rate has increased to 12 per cent in April.
The positivity rate is the number of positive patients per 100 tests. It was in September last year that the city had touched the positivity rate of 12.21 per cent, but then, it was on a steady decline.
As on Tuesday, the positivity rate in Bengaluru was 12 per cent with 20,82,897 tests conducted. Only last month, this figure was 2.31 per cent against 13,78,753 tests.
In February, it was at 0.94 per cent with the number of tests too being low at 7,27,314. In January, it was 0.91 per cent with 11,29,909 tests, December 1.42 per cent with 13,8,060 tests, November 2.19 per cent with 14,64,614 tests, 7.85 per cent in October with 14,64,614 tests and September at 12.21 per cent with 8,53,743 tests. The highest-ever positivity rate since the pandemic broke out was at 23.8 per cent in July.
