I really think donald trump should be impeached because who a foreignld asks power to do something what he did . I think it is time for congress to do their job and do what they have to do. I really hope he is impeached. Host do you expect to watch the hearings today . Caller i certainly do. Host what do you hope to learn . Caller i hope to see for myself the two people who are going to speak today. I hope to see their testimony and that is what i hope to see. I have already made up my mind that he should go, but i want to see what they have to say. From duane and marilyn, you are next up, hello. Ander i am an independent watching these hearings today, every person in america has to realize what it means to be a patriot. , seeingarings today these people who are not partisan. I would even use the term hyper nonpartisan speak the truth, not ,nly is trump being indicted the republican is being indicted. What people have to realize about this and i will make it very quick, being a patriot has to do with the country and not accepting anything that would taint our republic. If you are a republican, you are proamerican. If you truthfully say you support trump after this, you are undermining our republic. Host what do you expect to hear from todays hearings that you did not hear or was reported on in the closeddoor testimony . What do you think will be the difference . Caller other than the words of different truth, the words today is seeing people in their ironment and seeing just watching things or listening or seeing things on paper is one thing. It is another thing when you see a person express the truth. Host lets go to donald in kansas, republican line. Caller good morning. I am a republican and i want to know how much democrats cost our country in trying to impeach trump for these last three years. I know it has been expensive. Host why is the cost of the most important thing about this day in your mind . Caller it is really not the cost, it is just ever since he has been in office, it is what they have tried to do. It doesnt seem right for us taxpayers to be paying all this for them to be trying to impeach trump for all these years. Host what do you think about the hearing itself . Will you be watching . Caller yes, i will be watching fully innk trump is the right and i think this is a week witchhunt. Host we will hear next from nat. Go ahead. Nat inrry, this is baltimore, maryland, republican line. Caller i have been a democrat, i first voted for harry truman. I have never seen a circus like this in my whole life. Went through both of the previous indictments for impeachment and there was a civility and a sense to it and there was a fairness. This is a circus. I am sorry. The so disgusted with entire Democratic Party moving all the way to the left that i has to tell you i have to tell you, i am appalled. Host give me a specific of what you are seeing play out in this process is different from the 1990s when bill clinton was in the impeachment inquiry . Hader when bill clinton the hearings for impeachment and i am so upset. Had an both of them exact crime they were being. Ried for it is beyond me. Socalledquestion a whistleblower who is the one that initiated this and then he turns out to be he never saw it or heard it . He heard it from somebody else . It is almost like a Marx Brothers version of a trial. Giving us as nat call and his thoughts on the public hearing. The first step of the public process, many more steps involved. What we could expect in the future is here is a john mcardle. Stayinghope you are warm today. Want to start by showing our viewers two headlines to give a sense of the feeling of capital on capitol hill today as impeachment hearings begin. Gale, you are next up, hello. Caller i want to thank you for doing this, for publicizing this. I am 75 years old. I watched the watergate hearings from gaveltogavel and also the clinton because and i am very glad he is in the process of being impeached because i think he should be impeached. He did not think he did anything wrong with the mueller piece, he keeps doing the wrong thing. Can i say one other thing . Interrupt the hearings with the News Conference he is going to have. E is going to try to deflect definitely publicize the News Conference, but do it later, dont interrupt this, please. I am hoping you will stick with the hearings until they are done. Host we will stick with the hearings gaveltogavel as they start and finish. Expected to conclude sometime in the afternoon sometime between 2 30 and 4 30. The president has a scheduled event with the turkish president and we will show that as well and the president very well may say things about the hearing and things he saw. Stay close to cspan from all of that. From new york, independent line. Caller hello . Host you are on. Caller this is a dog and pony show. Joe biden admitted to doing the same thing they are trying to impeach trump for, but for joe biden to do it, it is okay. I dont understand. It should be the same in both. Host a lot of people have made that statement. To take aohn mcardle look at the instances in the joe biden event and with the president s conversation with ukraine. Lets go to delray beach, florida, republican line caller . Caller good morning. I have a question for a lot of people. Maybe you can answer it. At this point, can the white house, member of congress, or even a citizen say a vote on the rules that adam schiff is doing is unconstitutional, blow the whistle, spiked the ball, stop the game, take it to the Supreme Court . Host what makes you think that is a possibility . Caller i am asking if it is possible. Can somebody say the vote that was taken on the house, which we now have a house divided, can somebody in the white house for or a citizen say this is an unconstitutional proceeding which has such a dangerous precedent, the same as when the president s attorney, ifn his office is raided, they can happen to the president , it can happen to you. Host the house voted on this process, they started the process expected to go to the senate sometime after it reached a final vote on the house side caller that is the impeachment process. I am saying adam schiffs process of not allowing he is the judge, executioner, jury, and he is holding the keys to who is going to speak, what they are going to say and if they are going to say it at all. Host you will have the inquiry hearings, the public hearings, supposedly it will go to the House Judiciary Committee. At some point, they may hold hearings in the process. If they choose to do so, they will write articles of impeachment and they will go to the senate. Independent line, charlie in georgia, go ahead. Caller good morning. Can you hear me . Host you are on. Caller i agree with the. Entleman before i am wondering are they thinking about next year, do they really want him not to be elective . Elected . I find it hard realize something is wrong with this. Other than that, you all have a good day. Host do you plan to watch the hearings today . Caller absolutely. I am not like a lot of liberals that have called in already and they have already made their mind up. I havent seen any proof. I have to make my decision when i see something. Host your mind is not totally made up on this issue . Caller it is absolutely ridiculous. The point is when a president is dealing with another foreign leader, they do and it is called cooperation. So far, this president probably of better cooperation out all World Leaders than any in the last 15 years. Lets go to atlanta georgia, democrats line. Good morning. Trump from following day 1 and my thing is it seems like he is more about the border than the American People. Everybody wants to say joe biden did the same thing, joe biden is not held to the same standards as the president. My thing is he should be impeached. Host what do you think you will learn from the hearings today . The young man has when he came forth, he was not lying. Think he should be impeached. I say give him a fair chance, but the American People have a right to learn what is going on in washington. Host thanks for having mike. Caller thanks for having me on. 3. 5ve to say, theys last years has been a disappointment for myself. Trust inely have no this president. I think he does need to be impeached and i think we need to get someone new in there. The earlier caller talked about its all about from, trump, trump. He never takes responsibility. The only thing he does is get. Id of cabinet members there is so much chaos in that white house. Host if you think he has to be impeached, what do you base that on . Mainly, what i think we are going to hear today and that is that i believe he reached out to the ukrainian leader and going much verbatim was around saying i will hold your money until i want you to say this about joe biden. There are numerous things over the last few years. There is all kinds of stuff that has tainted his presidency. Host that is some of the perspective of folks who will be watching the hearings today starting at 10 00. You can see that on cspan 3, the first public hearings and here to tell us more about what to expect is john mcardle. To take ast want minute to dig into some of the players viewers will be watching, it takes place in the House Intelligence Committee consisting of 22 members, 13 democrats and 9 republicans. The oldest member, peter welch. Note on those theers, when they get to member questioning, members will get 5 minutes. That comes after that prolonged period of questioning the chairman and the Ranking Member will have. Lets dig into the chairman and Ranking Member. Served from 2015 to 2019, a former federal prosecutor. Holds his law degree from harvard, the ranking number sitting next to him is devin nunes. 9 terms in congress, represents california possible 22nd district. Has a masters degree in agriculture, former state agriculture. U. S. What you will be hearing from him is likely some version of yesterday, this memorandum, and 18 page memorandum. Here are the four key points morepoint to, look to hear from republican members today. It republican saying the july 25 phone call shows no evidence orty or covert ukraine was not aware of the assistance. Security at the time of the phone call and they say President Trump both of that occurred without ukraine investigating President Trumps political rivals. That is likely the key points republicans will be hitting, so look for that and that from the memo released yesterday. Host lets go to joshua in ohio, independent line. Joshua in dayton, ohio, hello. Caller can you hear me . I think what we are going to hear today is a position of power. First of all, it is already too late. Power. S a person of we are going to realize there is nothing you can do about it right now. Trump has been getting away with everything he is brave enough. O be out in the open with it he already has that power and there is nothing we can do. This process is not going to do anything but point out the truth and everything else. Getp is still going to elected at the end of the day. The world is like a chess game. Host with that in mind, do you think impeachment will happen . Caller no. Everybody is going to fall in line. When you realize his power and everybody that is behind him and everything, the unit United States is behind him. Host do you think the house side will impeach him . Caller no. Host why is that . Why is that specifically . Caller i was once told when you are at the top of the totem pole, there is nothing that can reach you. To everything, there is nothing people can do. You have to fall in line, that is the way life is. All the stuff we are doing and might be true, nothing is going to happen. Host steve, d
