I say 32 years because i was a student at the university of florida i was a member of students for biden and i had the button on my backpack all over campus so it is a title and the opportunity to welcome our next President Joe Biden is just absolutely amazing because the stakes are so high for all of us but then to confront and manage this pandemic look at our lives right now looks at look at the gathering we are in the mix on in the midst of they cannot see their kids and grandkids more than 15000 and needless for funerals here in the state of florida we cannot even if we attend as families if it is truly under control if its tied to leisure it is being ravaged and trump has failed to take seriously welding seniors to defend one to themselves meant to be even in more danger one out of three floridians rely on Social Security to help their income and one half million on medicare. With the trump executive orders with the stability of these critical programs the of these men will walk out one walk into the white house without the blessing of florida seniors. And my right . [applause] much is made in the rise of the youth vote for those 65 and older here in the Sunshine State no doubt about that. The road to the white house travels to florida and three quarters of our seniors turn out to vote every single election. So as the government pandemic strikeforce they lie about that it poses joe biden actually has a plan to get covid19 under control and with the longterm security of our seniors he has a plan compared to just a few weeks ago and shockingly donald trump said he would shred the funding mechanism. You cannot make this up. Joe biden says this that he joe biden will not allow federal programs to expire it is a lifesaving program for millions of Senior Citizen so lets be clear joe biden will not sacrifice Social Security like trump has proposed biden will check Social Security with all of the political mess on what he can muster and then to cause a crisis and a longterm care facility he released a plan and oversight and transparency so of plans can be cared for with the dignity they deserve. When it comes to protecting Medicare Prescription Drug cost you know joe biden will protect florida seniors hes done in his life this isnt a reality show gimmick and then moves on the next day. Protecting seniors is who joe biden is and who he has always been to Century Village and king point here in Broward County our seniors know they can truly count on joe biden Social Security medicare and make their medications less expensive and more formal and deep down seniors know they can count on joe biden to reunite there with her friends and children and grandchildren florida seniors know they have a friend and ally in joe biden in can see in a crisis like this they will never leave their side and then show up on election day and then show up on election day for all of america. And i planned my retirement around that income but now donald trump is threatening on Social Security for the president to break his promises unconscionable especially in the middle of a pandemic. Before covid19 way weeks virginia and with meetings, social gatherings, trips and so much more but then everything change changed. Covid19 has turned my life upside down and now i try to keep in touch with friends over the phone but its not the same i am incredibly fortunate to be living with my daughter who works from home but i dont ever leave my house disco to get essentials every two weeks they did not have to be this bad but if donald trump and decided to take the virus seriously things may be different florida seniors that they have written off seniors will guess what . We are not and we vote the president has been a disaster for seniors and we deserve better we deserve a leader who cares about us. I joe biden will protect us and strengthen Social Security and lower the cost of Prescription Drugs and has a plan for covid19 so we can see our kids and grandkids again and get life back to normal as soon as possible. Look around at her neighbors and we know people are hurting people are worried about making the next mortgage payment not only whether or not they can prepare on purchase Prescription Drugs and we see people doing better than they have ever done who is looking out for me what has been the entire story in fact hes never been focus on what matters. And handling the pandemic has been erratic just like his presidency implemented florida seniors and those across the country from getting the relief that they need donald trump hasnt just been willing not to do the work that he actually cares i think its both i dont think he cares much losing precious time while stuck in the sand trap in the golf course and when he does decide is the new tax cuts for billionaires is not hyperbole the 100 wealthiest billionaires are expected to get another 30 billiondollar tax cut you know what happened the last time from 2017 Pharmaceutical Company god billions of dollars and then they turned around and raise prices we rely on to stay healthy and it is unconscionable dont care about the Health Care Cost after all asking the United States in court to strike down the entire Affordable Care act and then to put in place is Preventative Services with checkups and mammograms for free if you get struck down thats wiped out as well is drug prices for seniors and Medicare Trust fund is put at risk is not a bad guy in terms of personality what they do . They have a milliondollar cut. They mean that they say. And then to terminate to finance Social Security. Not just a liberal think tank or a newspaper but the actuary the Social Security says and playing in for tens of millions seniors with the only thing they rely on all this president knows how to do is play games with their futures. Announcing he was walking away from negotiations is not walking away he never fully engaged to provide any additional relief american families. Debbie is working like the devil in the house and then to provide for the ability for being kicked out of their homes. And then to turn his back on firefighters and those who depend on those that have to be balanced just make note when we inherited the largest recession since the depression what happened . The president for me in charge of the recovery act of 800 million. They have to we have been fighting and then to lower drug prices. And if it passes they will veto it and with that divisive leadership 215,000 us from covid19 and raising. Experts say we will lose another 200,000 in the next few months alessi fundamentally changes course. But what has he done but to double down on the misinformation and makes it worse so many lives unnecessary because the president cares more about the stock market then the wellbeing of seniors. One day before we cross the threshold of 200 deaths, the president was at a Campaign Rally and said will affect virtually nobody just elderly people with heart and other problems. Think about that. Who is he talking about when he said it affects virtually nobod nobody . Hes talking about america seniors. Hes talking about you and my family. You worked hard your life to contribute to society to deserve security and peace of mind that you are not getting it and by the way if this is not so bizarre you would even talk about making a movie would think i was making it up. He thinks you are expendable and forgettable and virtually nobody. That is how he sees you. And then to call them losers and suckers. And with the daily update. He is running a national ad quoting doctor fauci out of context. He said way back in march referring to Public Health officials across the nation, i cannot imagine anybody could be doing more. And if the Trump Campaign this isnt unusual has deliberately lied, put doctor fauci in their ad asserting that he was talking about trump when he said could not have done any more after that ad came out saying i did not give permission to use the quotation i was not referring to the president even after he said that he did not say that the Trump Ad Campaign said they would continue to use the ad knowing that it is alive. Can you remember anything like that . And after that irresponsible action how many empty chairs are around the dining room table tonight . With that negligence and how manys hearts are broken . How many go to sleep at night because they cannot reach over and touch they cannot hear their son or daughters voice on the phone. Or to throw super spreader parties at the white house and republicans hug each other without concern or consequences. How review can hug your grandkids in the last few months . Two of mind live not far they go off into the woods i stand at the back porch and i bribe them with haagendazs bars but every single day i contact them. I cannot hug them. I cannot embrace them. I am luckier than most because they live nearby those two out of six. My grandkids and then to have respect and empathy the qualities the president has never shown. We should invest it in cures for cancer, diabetes, alzheimers, parkinsons. Thats why i proposed giving a National Institutes of health 50 billion over the next four years, to go after cancer, diabetes, alzheimers and parkinsons. If we do not, and no drug company has the capacity to do it, if we do not find an answer to alzheimers, in the next 19 years every single solitary bed will be occupied by an alzheimers patient. My dad used to have an expression. He said joey, if everything is equally important to you, nothing is important to you. You have to have priorities. What are our priorities . To make sure that everybody in america has an equal shot. This is about you and about whats fair. Its about what our priorities should be.
