Joseph DeAngelo has been locked inside a California prison for nearly a year. During his trial last year, the convicted killer and rapist wore a plastic face shield and orange jail-issued clothing while his victims recounted the horrors he'd perpetrated nearly 50 years ago. He will die in prison. Now, the District Attorney's Office is asking the public to share their stories of this significant time in Tulare County history. The office plans to collect these accounts for publication later this summer near the first anniversary of the Visalia Ransacker’s sentencing. "We are inspired by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office to collect these memories not just from victims, but from community members who experienced the climate of fear the Ransacker created," District Attorney Tim Ward said. "Our office and local media have reported on the crimes, but it’s our community that holds the complete history.”
