Arizona's number of identified COVID-19 cases has reached 860,169 (up 682 from the day before), and the number of new deaths increased by eight, bringing that total to 17,276.

Sometimes it seems like we get numb to the numbers that describe the devastation caused by COVID-19, but here's one that stands out: The number of deaths in Arizona in January was 76% higher than in January 2020, months before the pandemic struck.
