Road Safety Sergeant Jane Munro, of the Motor Patrols department, said: “With restaurants and shops closed there has been a big boom in the amount of people ordering takeaways and online deliveries, resulting in more people turning to a career as a self-employed delivery driver. “But in order to use your car for deliveries you require additional insurance cover or risk invalidating your insurance altogether. “Please don’t get caught out and make sure you understand what your policy does and does not cover. “If you’re caught driving with invalid insurance you risk a fine, getting your car seized, points or even losing your licence.
