Editor's note: As New Jersey prepares to turn the page on 2020 and begin 2021, we asked seven Garden State residents to reflect on the values that guided us through a year we will never forget. As we begin a new year, we believe these values — Humor, Grit, Faith, Resilience, Compassion, Joy and Patience — can continue to inspire and guide our best hopes. If someone had told me that being a comedian and having the ability to make others laugh would be my pandemic super power, I would have laughed in their face. Like everyone on the planet, in March, I feared having to make my own bread, weave my own toilet paper and purchase livestock to survive the year ahead.
