Denfeld student chosen to be part of next Freedom Writers book
The book, which will be named “Dear Freedom Writers,” will include 50 stories from students all over the world.

Chales Mims is a junior at Denfeld High School and is one of 50 students chosen worldwide for the next published book by the Freedom Writers Foundation. Chales will work with nationally renowned teacher Erin Gruwell and the original Freedom Writers over the next year. In addition, Chales will receive a new computer and webcam, and will fly to Washington, D.C. for a Freedom Writers event in April next year. (Clint Austin / caustin@duluthnews.com)
